Review: #NotYourPrincess

Note: I received an advance copy from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

What an amazing book for Native Women, by Native Women, about Native Women! Mainstream depictions of native women tend to silence and objectify them - this book elevates the voices of indigenous women, showing them to be strong and revolutionary. It was so refreshing to read something like this, and I look forward to adding a print copy to my classroom bookshelf! The art, poetry, and prose are beautiful and thought-provoking.

I can't recommend this book enough!

Edited in April to add: I forked out some cash to buy a class set of this book as soon as I saw it listed for a deep discount on FirstBook. I could not resist! My students have since read and discussed the pieces in the book, providing thoughtful analyses and personal connections. They commented that it was awesome to read something that does not relegate native women to historic, ancient beings.
