Yay, summer reading (for Students!)

Summer vacation is around the corner! The 11th grade English and Social Studies department got together to pass out these brand new books to students. The idea of a summer reading assignment for all students (not just AP students) is a new initiative at our school, and we are excited to pilot it this year. Students seemed interested in the options, and some students had a hard time selecting just one book to check out. I've read most of the books on our list, and was living out my childhood librarian dreams, answering student questions about the books, recommending specific books, and checking them out to students. This year's options included:

- The Librarian of Auschwitz

- Long Way Down

- More Happy Than Not

- I am Alfonso Jones

- Piecing Me Together

- Gabi, A Girl in Pieces

- The Perfect Storm

- The Hate U Give

I look forward to growing our reading program even more, inviting more grade levels to participate each year!
