World Tour 2018: RUNNING WITH LIONS, Germany

Greetings from Germany, and Happy Pride Month! I'll be in Germany for the next six weeks, spending time with my love, sightseeing, and reading, obvi! I didn't pack many physical copies of books, but I made sure to bring RUNNING WITH LIONS, by Julian Winters. I started it in Los Angeles, and wanted to finish it before moving on to something else.

It seemed fitting to read it as we're getting ready for the FIFA World Cup to start! RUNNING WITH LIONS revolves around boys on a soccer team who must come to terms with their feelings for each other. Sebastian and Emir were once best friends, but their bond broke apart for unknown reasons. Now they've reunited at soccer camp, and Sebastian is determined to reconnect. Sebastian identifies as bisexual, and Emir is Muslim, British, and gay. I've been excited to the buzz around the book, and was happy to be able to purchase a copy from the Interlude booth at YALLWEST.

This book fills a gap in the YA literature scene, but I think the author's future publications will probably be better. The writing and pacing felt off, and sometimes I was confused as to what was happening. Nevertheless, it's a cute story that needed to be told.

Here's a picture of the strawberries I picked this morning, fresh from the fields!
